Circular agribusiness at scale.
About The Program
Grower’s United Inc. understands the significance of fostering the growth and development of circular agribusiness. With this in mind, we are dedicated to building a robust innovation support infrastructure. This infrastructure will provide valuable resources and support to enable circular agribusiness practices to thrive.
In addition to our commitment to circular agribusiness, Grower’s United Inc. recognizes the importance of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the broader agribusiness ecosystem. We aim to gather key lessons and insights from our own experiences and share them with others in the industry. By doing so, we hope to contribute to the overall advancement and improvement of agribusiness practices in our communities.
By 2050, with the Earth’s population expected to increase by two billion, it is crucial that we find sustainable ways to feed this growing population without depleting the planet’s resources. Circular agriculture offers a promising approach to building a more sustainable food system.
In certain food sectors, as much as 50% of food is lost or wasted and goes to waste. This not only represents a significant loss of resources but also contributes to environmental degradation. Circular agriculture aims to address this issue by ensuring that food and the resources required to produce it are utilized to their fullest extent.
To achieve this, we need disruptive, innovative, and impact-driven companies that can provide circular solutions in agricultural markets and supply chains. These companies can play a crucial role in finding ways to reduce food waste and optimize resource utilization throughout the food production process.
It is also important to create a friendly environment for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and farmer groups that recognize the business potential in valorizing food losses and by-products. By incentivizing and supporting these actors, we can encourage the reintroduction of food waste and by-products back into the food system, thereby reducing waste and creating a more sustainable and efficient supply chain.
In summary, sustaining and feeding a growing population without depleting the planet’s resources requires embracing circular agriculture and fostering an ecosystem of disruptive and innovative companies, as well as providing support for SMEs and farmer groups that can contribute to a more efficient and sustainable food system.
